Plastic Bags – Woorabinda

Say No to Plastic Bags

In trying to beautify Woorabinda , and getting people to look after country, Woorabinda Aboriginal Shire Council has banned all plastic bags in the Woorabinda community. Plastic bags are an eyesore in our community, along our roads and at our landfill (rubbish dump) and more importantly are dangerous to the animals who chew on them. Shops and other services in Woorabinda have received correspondence of this move and notices have gone up in the community. We would now like to advise visiting services/agencies and people coming to Woorabinda, to please bring recycled shopping bags and leave your plastic bags at home. The local community store is selling bags should anyone forget to bring a shopping bag. This will take effect as from 1st November 2012. Help us to look after country.

Any queries please contact Environmental Health Worker, Rhonda Munns or myself.
