Now is the time to express interest in a presence at the Rockhampton ‘Take-a-Step’ Community Festival on Saturday, July 20.
Individuals and community agencies are invited – free of charge – to have a presence at an event, which will support young people and the broader community in coming together to celebrate social inclusion and diversity.
Take-A-Step is an initiative of Relationships Australia Qld, which will engage year 8 students and year 11 peer-mentors in Queensland schools, on issues of social and emotional development, social inclusion and the challenging of unfair behaviours.
We are inviting groups and organisations to have a presence at one of five community fun-run festivals, which will symbolise taking steps towards positive change in our school and broader communities. Contributions may include a stall with info and give-aways, a youth activity of some kind, or a performance for the stage (P.A provided). Organisations will be invited to promote their organisation and their own community and youth events, but will not be permitted to request payments for anything on the day, keeping Take-a-Step as a totally free event for young people and the community.
Attached is a running sheet for the festival and an expression-of-interest form to complete and return. Please feel free to circulate this through your own channels or to anyone who you feel could contribute something to the festival. We look forward to having you be a part of this exciting event!
