Centacare Baby Bridges Program in Yeppoon Starts Tuesday 3rd February

Centacare has arranged to have a Baby Bridges Program starting in Yeppoon on Tuesday, 3rd February.  This program is designed for mothers with children from years one to 5.

To date not many mothers have responded to this vital program which allows the mother to have two valuable hours respite from 10 am to 12 pm each day it is held. The venue is  the Community Centre in John Street, Yeppoon. One important aspect is that HACC offers support for mothers(carers) under 65 years of age. If you are aware of young mothers who would welcome some respite then please have them contact Jenny Sweeney on js@centacare.net.

Thank you.

Invitation to hold an Information Stall at the Community Centre YEPPOON 30th October

The Community Centre is celebrating 25 years of service to the community this year by holding a street party on Thursday 30 October 2014.

As part of the celebrations we are inviting service providers to hold an information stall to promote their service.  The event will commence at 2pm and finish at 7pm.  We are trying to give community members who aren’t normally available to attend events during working hours the opportunity to come and find out what is available.

Activities on the day :

  • information stalls
  • amusement rides
  • entertainment
  • street performers
  • workshops
  • food and beverage stall
  • The official ceremony will be at approx. 3.30pm .

Can  you please advise if you would like to participate by the 30 July as spaces will be limited and we need to  plan  the partial road closure to suit the event.  Service Provider stalls will be required to be set up by 1pm on the day, due to workplace , health and  safety requirements for the event, i.e. amusement rides set up etc.

If you have a marquee we would appreciate being able to borrow it for this event .

Yeppoon STEPS Skills Program July 2014

This is a final reminder that the Yeppoon STEPS Skills Program will commence on Monday the 14th of July 2014 at the Capricorn Coast Hospital and Heath Service.  The leaders for the Yeppoon group are Marilyn Rooks and Jenne George (Clinical Nurses), and Jo Emery (Trained Peer Leader).

The STEPS Program is open to all adults aged 18-65 years who have experienced an Acquired Brain Injury and their family members.  This 6-week structured group program provides an excellent opportunity for people to connect with others in their local community and develop strategies and skills to better manage with changes that have occurred in their life after brain injury.

There are still a few places available for this group.  To refer, please complete the attached participant referral form (fax back and e-versions attached) and return it to me as soon as possible.  Thank-you to those who have already forwarded through referrals for this group.

We appreciate your support in promoting the program via your networks.  If you have any questions about the program, please give me a call as per the details below.  More information can also be obtained from the STEPS Program website – http://www.health.qld.gov.au/abios/steps/default.asp
