On Wednesday, 8 and Thursday, 9 April 2015, Family Planning Queensland – Rockhampton Education will be hosting a 2-day professional development and networking conference for Indigenous-focused organisations in the Rockhampton area. The Wellness and Well-being Conference* will be an opportunity to gain professional insight from keynote speaker, Jeremy Donovan who will present from 10am to 12pm on Wednesday, 8 April. Other local Indigenous-focused organisations will also be invited to present on the second day of the conference. These guest speakers will be confirmed closer to the date.

The conference is free to attend and it is not a prerequisite to attend both days.

If you are interested in attending the conference, please return your completed registration form (as attached) by Wednesday, 25 March. Please feel free to share this email with your network contacts.

As this conference is provided at no charge to participants, limited spaces are available. You will be contacted via email to confirm your place. If you miss out on a place, an opportunity exists to attend Jeremy Donovan’s session only. Alternatively, you can nominate to attend Jeremy’s session only.

FREE “Resilience in Children” Session

Please find attached a flyer promoting the upcoming Mount Morgan United Session, which is to be held from 10.30-11.30am on Wednesday, 4 March at The Hub. Topic – Resilience in Children, as presented by psychologist Mandy Dexter. The session is FREE to attend and all community members and organisations are welcome to attend.

The Mount Morgan Action Group meeting will be held immediately after the meeting.

Attached is information about ASIST Training for the Bush.

The Black Dog Ball Committee has formed a partnership with CQ Hospital and Health Services to deliver ASIST training in the Bush Free of Charge to Anyone who would like to attend the courses, to the tune of $25,000.00.  The committee would like to see mainly front line service providers attend – banks, accountants, DPI, Real Estate Agents, teachers, youth workers, but ANYONE can attend.

So far we have two sessions booked for Biloela and Longreach:


Wednesday 11th & Thursday 12th February, 2015 (7 booked in already but we can take 24 in each course)

FREE LEGAL ADVICE – FOR Biloela, Moura, Theodore, Taroom, Wowan, Baralaba, Goovigen, Dululu, Jambin, Lawgi

I have been granted funds by the Legal Aid Office and Attorney General for the purpose of providing  Free Legal Education and  Advice  to the residents and organizations of  Biloela, Moura, Theodore, Taroom, Wowan,  Baralaba, Goovigen, Dululu, Jambin, Lawgi and surrounding areas  on Matrimonial Law, Domestic Violence, Wills and Enduring Powers of Attorney, Advanced Health Directives, Elder Abuse and  other areas of  Law. Everybody are welcome. No means test. I can on request give Advice on Domestic Violence with the  help of a Social worker.

I can attend your organization at any time by arrangement to speak on these legal topics or  other areas of law. Telephone Banana Shire Support Centre 4992 3322 or email

It would be appreciated if you could inform your Networks of this Free Legal Service and include this Information in your Publications. It is important that this Service be used to ensure future funding to the Community.

I  visit Moura, Theodore, Taroom, Wowan and Baralaba  every two weeks to provide Free Legal Advice. No means test.  Everybody Welcome. I can make home visits to Pensioners and the Disabled if necessary.

FREE Accredited Training – 22 September

“Promote the safety, well-being and welfare of children, young people and their families.

On Monday, 22 September, Family Planning Queensland will be hosting a half day accredited training session: Positive and Protective in Early Childhood. The training will be held at our office, Level 1 / 83 Bolsover Street from 8.30am to 12.30pm.

Successful completion of the training and assessment will lead to a Statement of Attainment in CHCCHILD403B Promote the safety, well-being and welfare of children, young people and their families, in partial completion of the qualification CHC41508 Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Child Protection).
As the session is free to attend, spaces are limited. Whilst we will to try to fit everyone in, we may need to limit the number of participants from each organisation.

If you wish to attend, please complete and return the attached registration form by Friday, 12 September. You will receive a confirmation email closer to the date.
