GOVERNMENT FUNDED – Tourism Training (Tour Guiding) Opportunity (PPP)

Hello All,
CTIA is a private Registered Training Organisation specialising in Tourism & Hospitality training. We have recently acquired a further allocation of Productivity Places Program funding via our industry engagement body … the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC).

We will be delivering several of these programs throughout Queensland over the next 12 months. The Rockhampton region program is being delivered at Capricorn Caves … we have a longstanding relationship with the Caves as we have been training their Guides for at least 10 years, and as such this particular program will have a focus on Tour Guiding given that we have access to guiding facilities. There are 10 days (2 weeks) of training … Monday to Friday 4th April to 15th April 2011.

A full overview of the program is provided in the attached course flier, also attached is the relevant enrolment form & a profile of our Tourism Trainer, Harold James, who will be delivering the program.

The cost of training is covered by PPP funding to eligible jobseekers (i.e. Australian’s currently not earning an income … youth aged 15 to 19 years can be working up to 15hrs per week). OPEN TO ALL STREAM LEVELS.

If any of your clients/contacts are keen to enrol, they need to complete the attached enrolment form & fax or scan & e-mail as per the contact details below. Numbers are limited to 25, and enrolments must be received by Monday 28th March. If jobseekers or employment consultants would like more information, they’re most welcome to contact our office.

Thank you for your time, and please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any queries, or would like to discuss.

Kind regards,

Kerry Gravener

DAY 1: (CPE) Creating Positive Experiences for a Person with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Monday 04.04.11
OBJECTIVES

This programme is designed to assist those who work, or in some manner support a person with an ASD, to learn to understand how the person with an ASD experiences the world differently to you and their peers……. remembering that different does not mean wrong! By identifying these different experiences, we are able to identify and understand the person’s unique triggers to escalated anxiety and thus likely to behavioural deterioration. Strategies are taught to equip supporters to modify these triggers or to understand when & how to teach the person with an ASD to learn new behavioural responses; thus reducing both anxiety and behavioural deterioration. Throughout this programme, participants will learn:

* How a person with an ASD, experiences the world differently to you and others
* To identify common challenges a person with an ASD is presented with on a daily basis
* That behavioural deterioration is often the person’s only means of managing these challenging situations
* How to develop more favourable experiences in which a person with an ASD will become less anxious and therefore can function more successfully
DAY 2: (PBI) Positive Behavioural Interventions for People Using Unwanted Behaviours

Tuesday 05.04.11
OBJECTIVES

A person, who used Challenging Behaviour(s), is likely to be responding to a situation they perceive as challenging and that they do not currently have the appropriate means to manage effectively. Challenging Behaviours are often a person’s only existing skills to communicate a message to other people: “I don’t know how to manage this situation i am finding challenging”. This programme is designed to assist individuals wanting to change their own unwanted behaviours and those who work with people using challenging behaviours to: (1) better understand the reasons why challenging behaviours occur and (2) to develop effective interventions based on preventative and skills-building strategies. Strategies learnt will assist an individual to use appropriate behaviours and therefore better manage, in these same situations they previously found to difficult to handle effectively.
