Girls Time Out – Young Womens Support Service Inc. is committed to responding to the needs of young women in our community by providing support for their growth and human potential. To live in an equitable and culturally welcoming society where all young women are empowered and valued, experience respect and support, all underpinned by family values, and have access to human necessities such as education, affordable housing as well as peer and parenting support in order for them to achieve self-determination and complete family wellness.

2016 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

A public meeting to nominate persons for appointment to the Management Committee for Girls Time Out – Young Womens Support Service Inc. for the term of one (1) year is to be held on:

Fundraiser for GTO 2016 NAIDOC Entrant

Girls Time Out – Young Womens Support Service Inc. is proud to be supporting the Annual NAIDOC celebrations in Rockhampton this year. GTOs 2016 NAIDOC entrant is holding fundraising events leading up to the ball and would greatly appreciate your support in some or all of her fundraising events

Attached is a flyer detailing the upcoming fundraising drive events which include:

Krispy Kreme donut drive, Cadbury chocolate & Lollies drive, The Cook up, Pie the Boss, Multi-draw raffle

Girls time Out – Upcoming Parenting Workshop in Mt Morgan

Girls Time out – Young Womens Support Service Inc is recruiting for a 1 day ‘Circle of Security’ Workshop to be held in Mt Morgan onThursday 31st March 2016.

This Circle of Security workshop is part of the Young Empowered Parents (YEP) Program. It focuses on how parent/child relationships can be strengthened and teaches new ways to understand childrens’ needs and behaviours and how to respond to them.

All young parents, mums and dads included are most welcome to attend. T

Girls Time Out Update and Calender to March 2016

Happy 2016 to all! We are excited about this year and look forward to continuing our support of young women, parents, youth and families in the Rockhampton LGA.  GTO has been very fortunate to have secured funding for the next few years which will ensure the continuation of very vital children and parenting support programs as well housing and accommodation support services in our local community.  We are currently delivering the following programs and are taking registrations for upcoming workshops and activities: 

Funded

  • House2Home2020 Program – Funded by the Department of Housing &Public Works
  • Young Empowered Parents Program – Communities for Children Facilitating Partner Initiative Capricorn is funded by the Australian Government and is facilitated by The Smith Family
  • Young Mothers Support Program – Funded by Australian Government Department of Social Services
  • Accessibility Playgroup “Kiddy Clan” – Funded by Playgroup QLD

Self-Funded

  • MeMyself&I Workshops
  • SHINE – delivered in partnership with Oasis New Life Centre

For Hire/Rental

  • Virtual Babies Program – we are so grateful to have received assistance from Stanwell Power Station to upgrade our Virtual Babies Program which is now ready and available for hire

GTO Open Day 2015 Tuesday 15th December

Girls Time Out –Young Womens Support Service Inc. is having an Open day on Tuesday 15th December. We would like to invite all those who are interested in finding out more about what we do to come on down to the centre. Please find attached our Open Day flyer for your perusal and distribution.

We are excited about the day and our young women and young parents have been busy putting on the final touches to their products and items that will be on sale. All money collected on the day will go towards supporting our self-funded ‘MeMyself&I’ workshops to ensure that the group continues in 2016.  (MMI Workshops flyer is attached)Your support is greatly appreciated. Lots of goodies on offer including lunch, dinner packs and desserts for sale here at the centre.

A big shout out to all those involved in the TCMarcia Recovery process. A big thank you from the team here at Girls Time Out.

Despite the media hype and mixed messages, it’s yet another day at work from the team here. We are still up and running with our programs and wish to advise the following:

GTO – Young Women’s Support Service Inc. currently delivers three programs:

  1. Young Mums Support Program – Funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services  (which is gathering a lot of media attention at moment due to the independent young mums alumni groups’ fight to keep the program after June 2015)
  1. House2Home 2020 Program – Funded by the Department of Housing and Public Works
  1. Step Into ParentingCommunities for Children Facilitating Partner Initiative Rockhampton LGA is funded by the Australian Government and facilitated by The Smith Family.
