National Volunteer Week

17-23 May, 2021

Like many Community Organisations, Juwarki Kapu-Lug’s capacity and capability to deliver service and value, depends heavily on Volunteers. In recent times – with additional uncertainty and challenge of COVID-19, Drought and Bushfires, this is even more evident.

Juwarki Kapu-Lug wishes to heartfeltly thank our Board of Directors, Elders / Respected Persons and Staff (volunteering their additional skills, experience and qualifications – such as JP duty), for all they do to assist Juwarki Kapu-Lug, our Clients, each other and our Community.

Murri Court – Women’s Group

This is our newly formed Murri Court Women’s Group from Juwarki Kapu-Lug Murri Court Community Justice Group, here on Darumbul (Rockhampton) Country, Central Queensland.

A lovely High Tea was held on the 8th March at the Rockhampton Botanical Gardens, celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) with our Murri Court CJG Elders and Clients. We were very lucky to also have two special Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander guest speakers, Sandra Creamer and Lenique Lawson.  Sandra and Lenique have their law degree and are working hard in our communities. Their inspirational journeys were shared with the group, encouraging us to think about our own journeys and ponder the IWD “Choose to Challenge” theme this year. A great morning was had by all.
